Upholstery Care

  • Weekly dusting: Use a soft brush to vacuum crevices where crumbs and dust accumulate.
  • Spills: Blot spills immediately with a dry, clean cloth. Never rub.
  • Leather: Apply a high-quality leather conditioner every 12 months to prevent cracking. You can find such products (like those from HG) at the supermarket.

Mechanism Maintenance

  • Lubrication: If the chair squeaks, apply a small amount of silicone spray to the moving hinges.
  • Keep the Path Clear: Make sure no rugs, cables or pet toys get caught in the metal frame.
⚠️

Most Common Issues

  • Children playing: During holidays, children sometimes play with the chair and, for example, twist the cables until they break. Do not let children play with a chair. If this does happen, first unplug all power cables to prevent damage.
  • Bent or broken hinge system: This often happens when too much weight rests on the extended footrest (for example, by leaning on it when standing up, or children sitting on it).

Pro Tips for a Long Lifespan

Always lower yourself gently into your recliner rather than letting yourself fall into it. Dropping into the chair puts sudden, immense pressure on the wooden frame and springs, which can lead to breakage over time. Also, never sit on the footrest when it is extended; it is designed solely to support the weight of your legs.

Squeaking is normal because metal rubs against metal over time. Fully extend the chair, turn it over, and apply a dry silicone-based lubricant or lithium grease to the hinges and springs. Open and close the chair a few times to let the lubricant work in, and wipe away any excess.

  • Never place the transformer under a (warm) radiator.
  • The green light indicates that everything is working properly.
  • Make sure the cables are securely connected to the transformer.
  • Cable safety: Keep power cables untangled and route them away from the metal lifting mechanism to prevent pinching or breakage.
  • Rest for the Motor: Avoid repeatedly pressing the open/close buttons in quick succession to prevent the motor from overheating.

You cannot physically lock these, but this isn't necessary. You can do this with the remote control. The wheels are mounted on the chair's frame. As soon as you raise the chair slightly, the wheels lift off the ground and the chair is locked in place.

Turning the seat

  • Applicable to the Malmo standing chair, Palermo, Zero Gravity, Vivaldi and all other rotating relaxation chairs.
  • Make sure that the cable does not become pinched when turning the seat.
  • A pinched cable can break and/or damage the recliner.
  • Do not allow children to play with your recliner and advise older users of the danger of a pinched cable.

Moving seat?

Please note when moving the seat:

  • Always hold the armrests to move the seat.
  • Do not grab the backrest as shown in the example — this may cause it to come loose.

Movable Topswing

  • Applicable to all seats, except Medicare and Medicare DUO.
  • So it is best to stand behind or next to the seat, and then you can tilt the top swing. It is normal for it to be a bit stiff at first . So you can push it forward or push it back.= (so don't pull).
  • We cannot emphasize enough that the first time you have to use quite a lot of force. A new seat is like a new pair of shoes and takes some time to settle. From the second and especially the 3rd time this will go a lot smoother!
  • Do not pull the cushion (your seams may come loose or you may tear the cushion), but push it forward or backward.

Maintenance of the rechargeable battery, some tips:

Li-Ion batteries require +/- 5 discharges/discharges after purchase to reach their maximum power. In the first phase, the cells of the battery are formed. It is therefore important to actually do this after the purchase.

  • The continuous 'deep discharge' of each battery greatly limits its lifespan. Charge it occasionally, even if the battery is not yet “flat”.
  • Store the battery in a dry environment and keep it away from sunlight. A Li-Ion battery degrades at high temperatures. For example, close to a window in direct sunlight is not recommended.
  • Avoid charging Li-Ion batteries in the sun. Heat in combination with the sun in combination with a full load causes stress.
  • Sixty degrees is the maximum temperature allowed.
  • Do not charge below freezing point.
  • When the battery is charged, remove it from the plug. This will extend the lifespan considerably. Leaving a 100% charged battery connected to the mains is detrimental to any battery.

How far can I go on one charge?
The range depends on many factors. For that reason one
Accurate indication not possible. How often do you use your seat,
how much does the user weigh, how old is the battery, etc.

Place the battery at the back of the seat, on the floor.

Move

  • Never pull on your seats as shown in the photo. This can cause the seams to come loose.
  • For example, if you want to move the seat, lift it with two people.
  • If you wish to close a manual seat, use your legs to do this. Do not pull on the backrests when closing the recliner.

Furniture fabric tips

1. Vacuum regularly

Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush to remove dust, dirt and crumbs. This prevents dirt from building up and being rubbed into the fabric.

2. Treat Stains Immediately

Treat stains as soon as possible to prevent them from setting into the fabric.

  • Blot instead of rub : Gently blot the stain with a clean, dry cloth. Rubbing can make the stain worse and work it deeper into the fabric.
  • Suitable cleaning agents : Use a mild detergent or a special textile cleaning agent. Test it first on an inconspicuous area to make sure it does not cause damage.

3. Avoid Sharp Objects

  • Sharp Objects : Keep sharp objects such as keys and pet claws away from the seat to prevent tearing and damage.
  • Pets : If you have pets, provide a separate place for them to lie down, such as a pet bed, to prevent them from damaging the sofa.

How often should you oil leather?

In general, it is recommended to condition leather once a year . However, if it is often exposed to sunlight (think of a veranda), then 2 times a year is better to prevent drying out and cracking. Do not do this more often and always in moderation.

Leather maintenance tips

When purchasing a new leather seat, it is important to know how to properly maintain it. This will ensure that your sofa not only looks nice and neat, but also lasts longer.

  1. Clean regularly: Clean your leather seat regularly with a soft cloth or vacuum cleaner to remove dust and dirt. Avoid abrasive materials or chemicals that can damage the leather.
  2. Protect from sunlight: Do not place your leather seat directly in sunlight, as this can discolor and dry out the leather. If necessary, use curtains or blinds to protect the leather.
  3. Treat stains immediately: If liquid is spilled on your leather seat, blot it up immediately with an absorbent cloth. Then use a special leather cleaner to remove any remaining stains. Always test the cleaner on an inconspicuous spot first.
  4. Do not use harsh cleaners: Avoid using harsh cleaners, such as bleach or solvents, as they can damage the leather. Always use a mild detergent specifically designed for leather.
  5. Feed the leather: To keep the leather in good condition, it is advisable to feed it regularly with a leather conditioner. This helps keep the leather hydrated and prevents cracking or drying out.

By following these simple maintenance tips, you can enjoy your new leather sofa for a long time.
